Christmas Table Setting (Plaid and Polka Dots)

plaid and polka dots Christmas table

Some designs are classics...they stand the test of time.

Plaid and Polka Dots are two of my favorites, and I decided to combine them to set a pretty Christmas table, paying special attention to my thrifty budget and using many items that I already had on hand.

I started with polka dot wrapping paper I bought at Target. I simply unrolled it down my table and cut it off leaving a slight overlap on either side. Wrapping paper makes a fun, easy and inexpensive table runner....not to mention it's easy clean-up!

My centerpiece is a layered one I created using items I already had.

I borrowed two lanterns from my Christmas mantle, adding some cranberry beads in the base to add that rich red color. They are actually cranberry bead garland that I purchased several years ago. I have used them on my Christmas tree, but love using them in different ways, like adding some color to a glass vessel.

Setting a Christmas table

Fresh tree branches that I had soaking in water add a natural element, that amazing pine scent, as well as a pop of green. They are the branches from the bottom of the Christmas tree, that were cut off.

My place settings came together just as quickly...

Glittered snowflakes topped with silver glittered pine cones make cute and easy place markers. Just tuck the strip of card stock into the pine cone.

It's festive, colorful, and an inexpensive way to transform a table for the holidays!

What do you already have that you can bring to your table to create a magical, festive centerpiece?

I challenge you to 'shop your home' and use some of your favorite pieces to decorate your Christmas table this year.

On Tuesday I'll be sharing my 'famous almond bark' recipe...and then I'll be taking a much-needed blogging break until after the New Year.
