I've been sharing some little known facts about me, Mr DIY and our journey during this giveaway, so here is another one...

Random fact about me:

When Mr DIY and I got married (at the ripe 'old' age of 23), we moved from BC to Niagara Falls...still Canada...to start ministry. Mr DIY was a youth pastor. We were poor as church mice, with nothing substantial to our names! Our new church family provided us with furniture for our tiny attic apartment to get us started. Someone even donated the shag carpet they had ripped out when redoing their home so we could have a rug underneath our feet! I had a sewing machine and used it to make very simple calico curtains for our windows. I also made all our Christmas tree ornaments that year because we had nothing! Most of the ornaments were heart-shaped! ๐Ÿ’š Our first Christmas tree was real. It was a thing of beauty up there in our little 3rd floor attic living room. We neglected to pay much attention to when garbage day was and specifically, the day that our tree needed to be at the curb for removal. Welp, the morning arrived. We were getting ready for work and could hear the garbage truck slowly working its way down the street. Our tree was still upstairs! Mr DIY grabbed it by the trunk and shoved it down the hallway, down three flights of stairs...making it to the curb just in time. The closet doors were all open during this trek...did I mention we had shag carpet? Needless to say, we were still stepping on pine needles and picking them out of our sweaters 3 years later!! I have since honed my control-freak tendencies with gentle reminders..."maybe we should use a sheet around the tree to avoid another pine needle catastrophe like 1992" ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Tomorrow is another great giveaway!  Hope to see you back friend :)

  11. I am not a Rae Dunn collector at the moment, I love the simple esigns of all of the pieces I have seen though. I don't even know how it happened but I seem to be collecting vintage mushroom, well stuff. I have a mug and several salt and pepper shakers and a small piece of vintage fabric with mushrooms, I am always drawn to the mushroom items at garage sales and thrift stores. Love your tree story, I just bought our first artificial tree this past Christmas.
