Sometimes those slick surfaces take longer for the paint to fully bond to. I would leave it alone for a couple weeks, then you can try lightly sanding and repainting. Give each coat of chalk paint a day to dry before painting another coat. Then, once you're happy with the paint, give it a full 48 hours before you apply any wax! That should take care of it!Cindy DIY beautifyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03478403548578247406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4715785490417606870.post-65933524882530737562019-09-21T20:02:07.004-05:002019-09-21T20:02:07.004-05:00Hello! When I started applying the wax, the paint started rubbing off. What in the world did I do wrong? And is there anything I can do to fix it?? I've put a clear coat of wax on. kleet1960https://www.blogger.com/profile/11003668216623168799noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4715785490417606870.post-1411508297341573342019-09-15T18:21:58.741-05:002019-09-15T18:21:58.741-05:00Great question, I'm not actually sure. You can also make your own using flat latex paint mixed with Plaster of Paris. Here it is http://www.diybeautify.com/2014/03/chalkpaint101andchalkpaintcompanies.html<br />You can also buy it online. And Home Depot is now selling small pots. They're by Americana Decor. It is the same as using a poly but gives a softer finish (looks-wise) and I just prefer using it. Hope that helps!Cindy DIY beautifyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03478403548578247406noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4715785490417606870.post-33628640500288955742014-02-28T13:11:02.994-06:002014-02-28T13:11:02.994-06:00Just came over from Carolyn's Homework Inspira...Just came over from Carolyn's Homework Inspiration Board to read more about your beautiful pig tray. What kind of wax are you using for these chalk-painted trays? Is it car wax, floor wax, or some kind of craft wax? I have two very large, silver-plated catering trays that are too nasty to be used without a doily-like paper liner. I'd love to dress them up, so would appreciate some brand names of your favorite products, too.
