Good morning and happy Wednesday! Yesterday I shared a Spring decorated console table with you, and today I'm going to show you how I made the nest centerpiece that's the showpiece of that spring vignette!

Spring decor

Spring is just around the corner, I promise! Here in Texas, we are back to normal temperatures (60's and 70's) after our week of starring in Frozen!

I've been decorating for Spring and have so many new projects to share with you! Click here to see all my past Spring projects and crafts.

Today's nest centerpiece was inspired by this centerpiece I spotted on Martha Stewart Living. The inspiration piece was made using real tulips and daffodils but I made mine with inexpensive and realistic looking faux flowers!

How to make a Spring nest centerpiece

I'll include the supplies list below the tutorial.

Remember the Valentine's heart shaped wreath I made just a few weeks ago? When I was unable to find a grapevine heart shaped wreath, I made my own using an inexpensive twig garland.

I had some of that grapevine twig garland leftover, and it was put to use to create the nest part of this Spring centerpiece.

I simply snipped the wire that was wrapped around it and holding it together and this allowed it to open up. Then I loosely wrapped the twig garland around a shallow basket.

It naturally wants to close in on itself, so I didn't need to secure it with anything. You just want to make sure there's enough to overlap a little bit.

Next, I sliced a floral foam rectangle in half with a serrated knife, and trimmed the corners so it would lay flat in my basket. You can see in the image below that I left the plastic on the foam; it's not necessary, but helps to keep things a little bit neater than way!

I have been buying these faux tulips from Amazon for years, and I love them! They look so real and come in a set of 30, wrapped in bundles of 10. There are 14 color varieties to choose from, and I want them all lol! I also highly recommend these faux daffodils! They are so life-like! In fact, I've gathered all  my favorite Spring faux blooms from Amazon, all under $25!

I snipped about an inch of the plastic stem from the ends of each flower with scissors, leaving the actual wire intact to make it super easy to poke the stems down into the foam.

This helps the flowers to have good grip in the foam and be secure.

I cut a few of the outer flower stems a little shorter to give some height variety and then I just stuck them all into the foam. I used about 45 total flowers for this centerpiece, which gives it nice fullness.

The final step was covering the top of the floral foam with a little Spanish moss and green moss.

I really love how it turned out! Because it's faux, this is a centerpiece that can last all Spring, no water needed 🌷

These bright, happy colors are the perfect way to dispel the last gloomy days of winter!

I would love to know how you're decorating for Spring this year. If you haven't even thought about it yet, and are currently buried under snow, why not make this nest centerpiece and bring some happy Spring colors into your home!
