Do you have a favorite color combination? For me it's always been blue and white. I love how fresh and inviting it looks, and I recently made a few changes in my guest room to incorporate more blue and white.

This sweet guest room, that got a fresh makeover last Spring, is one of  my favorite rooms in our home. Secretly, I kind of wish it was my bedroom!

guest bedroom

Every time I enter, it's quiet, the sun shines in through the window and it's a comfortable place to rest.

I swapped out a few things that were there, and brought in some of my favorite blue and white items. Like the floral plates hanging above the bed, some thrifted and others found at HomeGoods, Marshalls and TJ Maxx.

I also used a blue and white dish on the nightstand, to corral loose items.

cottage style bedding

The linens are all blue and white, including a vintage chenille bedspread, pretty blue and white toile sheets and an IKEA duvet.

Doesn't it make you want to dive right in and take a little nap?

vintage window

I hung a new wreath on the old window, and this grapevine heart has blue berries and a blue and white check bow, perfect for freshening up the room.

It beckons you, doesn't it? To curl up with a book or magazine, and just rest awhile. All dreams guaranteed to be sweet! xx

Or, settle in by the sunny window with a fresh cup of coffee...or tea.

sitting area with tea set

I couldn't resist bringing in a little tea tray...in blue and white. These are pieces I've found at various thrift stores over the years. I collect white ironstone and blue and white transferware, and it all works beautifully together even though some is reproduction, some is antique. You can see how I used all my mismatched blue and white plates together to set a lovely dining table here.

guest towels

I keep a couple sets of white ruffled-edge towels in the driftwood painted nightstand and pull them out when I'm expecting guests.

That way my kids don't have a chance to ruin them!

bar of soap in decorative dish

A bar of fresh-milled soap made from goat's milk looks inviting in a small transferware bowl.

Are you ready to come stay for awhile?
