Transform Your Plain Flip Flops
Summer and flip flops go together like PB and J, coffee and donuts...a diy-er and a never-ending mind full of ideas!
I love when Old Navy has their super sale on flips and you can get several pairs for just a few bucks.
Last summer I bought two pairs of their wedge flips, but when I got home I decided they were too plain and I would jazz them up a bit!
Tour Through Blogland
Guess what? This is my first 'Group Tour' as a blogger! I was so excited to be invited by Erin Dove to join the Tour Through Blogland, where bloggers share a little more about themselves, their family, home and blog. At the end of this post I'll introduce you to a couple more bloggers to continue the Tour next week! It's all you want to know about some fabulous bloggers...and a little more!So thank you to Erin for the invite! Erin blogs at The Blue Eyed Dove and it's a fun, girly place to visit! She loves party planning, DIY crafting, bold decor (this gal has a purple kitchen!), fashion and skinny recipes. Basically, if you're a girl...you'll love her blog, lol!
Now, are you ready to see and hear a little more about me?
Welcome! Meet my family...the story of an All-American guy who captured the heart of a Canadian gal, married her and brought her down to his homeland to live happily ever after :) We have three awesome kids... a recent HS grad, an almost-17 year old and a goofy little girl who will be 10 in a few days.
My daughter (affectionately known as Little DIY on this blog) is more like me than even I realize sometimes! She's definitely caught the 'diy' bug!
Case in point: we had stopped at Lowe's recently for some supplies and while momma was busy shopping, so was Little DIY. She was busy checking out the 'Oops' paint section and found a gallon of coral paint for $10 that she begged me to buy so we could redo something in her room.
Do you ever decide to do something..and your family thinks you've completely lost it?!
My family thought I was cray cray when I told them that I was going to paint this chair I found at our local Habitat Restore. Not just the wood...the whole shebang...fabric too!

Can you believe that summer is almost over? In my neck of the woods, kids return to school the first week of August...which means there are only about 2 weeks of summer left.
Yikes, I'm not ready! Are you?
There are new clothes and sneakers to buy, as well as school supplies, backpacks, lunchboxes and extra stuff for my son who will be a Freshman at University of Memphis.
Luckily zulily has a great Back-to-School sale going on right now!
Friends, if you have a hot glue gun, a roll of burlap and tough fingers...have I got an easy project for you! It's not only easy, but super inexpensive!
When I saw this roll of chevron burlap at Hobby Lobby for 50% off, I fell in love with it and knew I needed to use it in my home.
My DIY Journey to Refinishing my Dining Table
Awhile ago I wrote a post called Conquering My Fears of Refinishing Furniture. It was the story of my first experience with refinishing a piece and I'm so happy that my 'test flight' was on that dressing table and not this dining table! If it had been, I might have given up in disgust and never tried again.
This was a big project. My dining table has 3 leaves and I wanted to refinish all of them so when we had a large group over for dinner and I had to put all three leaves to use, the table would still look good. The good news is that I'd already painted the table apron and legs black.
The bad news...
Recent Ironstone Finds at Goodwill
Have you ever had a good ole fashioned swoon in the middle of Goodwill?
The other day while treasure hunting at Goodwill, I stumbled upon some antique English Ironstone
that made me break out in a sweat!
Sometimes a little makeover makes all the difference! It's like getting your roots done. Everything looks new again!
This July 4 wreath makeover was a cinch to do, and it looks fantastic with it's Patriotic decor!
This July 4 wreath makeover was a cinch to do, and it looks fantastic with it's Patriotic decor!
Why was this little mini makeover necessary? Well, I got to thinking this week that I had nothing Patriotic to hang on my door.
For a DIY-er, that is almost a sin (gasp)
If you're a woman, you love a new bag! Sorry to be cliche, but isn't it true? I can't walk through Kohl's without checking out their purses, wallets and handbags! My heart does a little pitter-patter when I spot one I love.
I've got a cute and easy tutorial for a bag that won't hurt your wallet...waterproof Duct Tape pool bags!
