I know it's the week of Thanksgiving, and many of you don't decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving is over and done.
I'm joining with a group of bloggers today to bring you creative gift wrap ideas so that you can plan ahead! These ideas range from easy to impressive and everything in between! You'll find all the links below. Thanks to Nancy from Slightly Coastal for organizing this Wrap It Up Christmas gift wrap hop!
For me, the joy is in the details...adding the finishing touches to my decorated home, baking gingerbread...and making a gift extra special with pretty trims.
I used to hate wrapping gifts...I was that person who bought gifts all year long, but waited until Christmas Eve to wrap gifts. It.took.forever and leaving it until the last minute was so stressful ๐
Now, I wrap as I buy! That way, not only does it relieve the stress of wrapping so many gifts, but once it's wrapped, I tend to forget what's inside...so it's a surprise for both me and the recipient!
My idea started with ribbon and gingerbread.
I'm a ribbon hoarder! I'm the one who stalks the after-holiday ribbon aisle, buying rolls upon rolls of ribbon for 90% off!
I baked a batch of gingerbread to use for Christmas decorating...more details on that in a later post.
The smell of gingerbread is just heavenly, and so Christmas-ey...I thought I would incorporate some gingerbread houses into my wrapped gifts.
Who wouldn't like edible gift wrap decorations right?
Just wait and bake your gingerbread a little closer to Christmas so it doesn't dry out! You can wrap the gifts and even tie ribbon on in advance. Adding the gingerbread is easy.
I also stock up on wrapping paper that I find on clearance. I like bold prints like the polka dots, stripes and plaids you see here.
As long as you have one unifying element (like the color red), all these patterns will work together nicely.
This awesome polka dot gift wrap is just begging to be the star of the show! My cookie was cut to resemble a barn, which totally fits with my farmhouse Christmas theme this year!
Do you see the chicken wire ribbon on this package? I bought it earlier this year, having NO idea what I'd do with it.
It adds some fun texture to this plaid-wrapped package. There's even a bow, which was easy to make by just bending the chicken wire ribbon and securing it in the middle!
I added a tiny paper Christmas wreath (a garland from Target Dollar Spot that I re-wrapped into a wreath) with some red berries...at the last minute I tucked some of the striped ribbon under the chicken wire so it was more visible.
I hope I've inspired you to see how fun wrapping gifts can be! And to stock up on ribbon this year ๐

Let's take a closer look at these three packages.

These packages are very simple to pull together. Bold candy striped gift wrap, buffalo check ribbon, a gingerbread house cookie and a gift tag (thank you Target Dollar Spot!) tied onto the package with bakers twine.
You could bake cookie monograms with the initial of the recipient to make it more fun!
