I have been sharing a ton of DIY Christmas tree ornaments this year! If you missed any, there was my Rae-Dunn inspired ornaments, my marbled metallic ornaments, my faux shiplap ornaments made with something I found at the dollar store! and even a $3 farmhouse tree topper! All of these ornaments were handmade this year to adorn my farmhouse-themed Christmas tree!

But wait! I have one more ornament to share with you. Do you remember the gorgeous reclaimed wood walls we added in our sunroom recently? Well, I had a few pieces of the wood leftover and as a thrifty crafter and do-it-yourself, you better believe that I used up all the leftovers!

A few of the wood pieces were used to update a sign I had made previously but had grown tired of. See that sign hanging above the sofa? That's the one! I am in love with this sign and its message!

But I still had a few small pieces of Timberchic wood left over and so I made some mini Christmas signs for my farmhouse tree.

Leftovers = budget-friendly and that's always a good thing!

Here's how I made these miniature farmhouse-style signs. I believe you could do something similar with leftover wood flooring!

HOW TO CREATE WOOD SIGNS FROM LEFTOVER WOOD

So here is what I started with. Various lengths of leftover peel-and-stick wood. I used a chop saw to cut pieces down to the same size.

This wood has sticky backs, so I joined two pieces of wood together so that it would look more finished with a solid front and back.

It was as simple as peeling and sticking the wood pieces together. If you were using wood flooring pieces, you could use wood glue to attach them.

Next, I painted the mini signs with white chalky paint so they'd all be uniform. Then I created vinyl Christmas sayings using my Silhouette machine and red and black craft vinyl.

Centering the vinyl  on the wood bases was super easy with transfer tape and Silhouette's scraper tool.

To cover the raw edges where the two pieces of wood meet, I simply hot glued gingham ribbon around all 4 sides.

And finished it off with a bow. I like how tidy they look!

These mini wood ornaments look great on my farmhouse Christmas tree along with all the other handmade and farmhouse-style ornaments!

I love an easy personalized project...when it's thrifty to boot, that is a bonus!

  1. Love 'em and pinned 'em. I still have a few signs to make as gifts this year, who says they have to be great big signs right? I could whip some of these up in an afternoon and I bet I even have ribbon!
