This is a sponsored post with Autonomous. All opinions are my own.

I'm sharing my review of the Autonomous small computer desk and how it makes a perfect gift wrap station for everyone in the family!

Christmas is tomorrow friend...can you even believe it?

With Christmas just a day away, I set up a simple gift wrapping station, using this functional SmartDesk 2 from Autonomous as the base. We're last-minute wrappers, how about you?

The adjustable standing desk makes it possible for everyone in the family to use it comfortably! My husband who's 6'1" can raise it to suit his height, while the rest of us can lower it to a comfortable height that works for our shorter stature 😉

Functional and attractive desk for small spaces

With so many of us working and doing school and projects from home, another work surface was essential. This standing desk from Autonomous is great for small workspaces and it's a powerhouse, enabling us to work smarter, not harder!

You can customize your work surface at the perfect height when you use an adjustable desk! Of course, it also lowers to true desk height so if you decide to sit to work, it's easy to adjust for that purpose as well.

Did you know that it's actually better for your back to stand while you work? Sitting at an office desk is what causes a lot of back problems!

Here's something you may not have known...you actually burn calories while you're standing to work! Not a lot, but definitely more than when you're sitting! And standing is overall just better for your back.

I actually find it easier to wrap gifts when I'm standing, it's more comfortable and it's just easier to do!

Here are a few more things that we love about the SmartDesk 2:

Pros

  1. large, sturdy work surface
  2. easy to raise and lower
  3. sleek minimalist design
  4. heavy duty steel frame and motor with smooth operation
  5. wire pass throughs
  6. available in multiple sizes
  7. multi person use

Some of my favorite features of this standing desk are that it's sleek, smooth, and very minimalistic in design. It's just an attractive desk, period, and I think that it would look good in any setting, at home or in the office.

The desk is shipped in two boxes, the top separate from the legs. There is some assembly required but it took my son only about 20 minutes to put the desk together.

I appreciate the numerous cord zip ties that come with the desk. There is a sticky foam piece that attaches to the underside of the desk, with an attached zip tie on each one, allowing you to tuck the cords away.

We also like the wire pass throughs (one on each side) that are built in to the surface of the desk top, making it more functional without sacrificing the design of this electric desk.

Great size desktop

The surface of the desk is a great size. I was able to wrap gifts very comfortably, with room left over for accessories, ribbon and tags. The large work surface is also a nice size for a computer desk, a lamp and a few accessories.

There are two desktop sizes available. I have the classic, 53" top, but it is also available in a larger, 70.5" size if you need more work surface. There are also several additional choices available for the top and legs, including white, bamboo and oak, allowing you to fully customize it to suit your space! Smooth and quiet operation

The motor that raises the top of the desk is robust, smooth and quiet. You can preprogram your favorite four height adjustments, making it ideal for multiple people who may use the desk.

Lifting the top is as simple as a touch of a button! I appreciate that the desktop raises slowly and smoothly, with no worries about your stuff flying off!

So let's talk about any downsides to the Autonomous SmartDesk 2 for a second. There was very little that we didn't love about this affordable standing desk, but there were a couple things that we felt could be improved.

Cons

  1. black shows dust
  2. lots of cords to tuck away
  3. no storage
  4. no USB or power ports

The black desk may be sleek and stylish, but I can already tell it's going to show dust and fingerprints! While it's going to require regular dusting, the smooth surface is easy to wipe clean with a soft cloth! You might opt for a lighter color desktop if this will be an issue for you.

Let's talk storage...or lack of. The minimalistic design, while so attractive, is just a desk top. It would be great to have a small drawer to at least hold pens and basic supplies. This might also hide some of the extra long cords that hang down. I found that even with using the zip tie cord catchers included with the desk, it was very difficult to hide the cords completely.

Dangling cords just takes away from the sleekness of this great looking desk.

I also feel that it would have been a nice touch to have some USB or power ports as part of the desk. That would truly make it smarter in my opinion!

The bottom line is that we think this is the best affordable standing desk. It's sturdy, good looking and operates smoothly, and it's a great option for those looking for a small computer desk for their home or business.

Also important to note is the desk comes with a 30 day free trial and a 5 year warranty, plus shipping is free!

It's a great desk for the price, with great design and functionality. If you're in the market for a standing desk for a smaller work space, you can't go wrong with the SmartDesk 2 from Autonomous.

Pin it to Remember it!

That is it for me until after the holidays!

I hope you are filled with JOY, HOPE and PEACE this Christmas and that whatever your Christmas looks like, it is enjoyable and memorable!

  1. Cindy, I am more interested in your window frame above the desk; what an awesome idea! I love the desk, don't get me wrong, but I love the frame above it. I am fortunate to have a 7.5' X 3' island in my kitchen which is ideal for wrapping or cutting out patterns. Unfortunately I always forget to use it and still sit on the floor to wrap.

    1. Oh thank you so much! I love old windows! I do have an island but it's always covered in stuff, so we loved using the surface of this desk to wrap gifts ;)
