Stenciled Burlap Sign plus a Free Printable
Today I want to share my latest project in my Farmhouse Modern laundry room makeover....and how you can get a free printable download of this sign!
...because we all know that laundry ain't fun.
And with three kids, I spend a lot of time in the laundry room so I want it to be cute and somewhat inspiring, lol.
I already created a laundry definition sign using a piece of wood and paint....it looks fabulous hanging above my newly painted and repurposed dresser.
Although I have yet to show you the Final Reveal for my Farmhouse Modern laundry room, I think a couple things are rather obvious:
- I like signs, labels, words
- I like custom signs
- I'm bound and determined to stay within my budget on this room makeover, so if I have to make something rather than buy it, I will!
That was the case with this Hey Good Lookin sign. And don't even ask me where the phrase 'Hey Good Lookin' came from. Just like with my 'Accessories and Accoutrements' dresser labels, sometimes these things just pop into my head...
...although I do recall my dad singing this Hank Williams tune to my mom
when he wanted to tease her:
'hey, good lookin',
what ya got cookin',
how's about cookin' somethin' up with me'
(anyone else remember that song?)
After creating my saying, I uploaded it to my Silhouette machine and watched in wonder (and joy) as the machine cut it out in a matter of minutes. I used to cut all my designs by hand and that took forever (and left me with sore fingers!)
I used the cut phrase as a stencil (just like I did when I added words to my dresser), taped it to a piece of burlap and painted in the letters. Look how crisp the edges are!
After the paint dried, the burlap was wrapped around a piece of poster board that I cut to fit.
I popped it into my frame and then added brass furniture nails around the edge.
This DIY burlap sign would really look good anywhere, wouldn't it?
