Hi friend, Happy Friday! I took a week off blogging while I visited family in Canada, and got my fill of cold weather but I'm back and ready to jump into some fun Spring DIYs! Today I'm sharing how to add a luxurious brushed suede look to any decorative item using paint!

Suede Paint

Yes, I said paint! DecoArt Suede paint is now available at Michaels! I was one of the lucky ones who got to try it out before it hit stores, and today I'm sharing some wood chargers that got a navy brushed suede look with the Midnight Blue paint! Keep reading and I'll share how I did it!

Video Tutorial

I used this 12" bamboo wood plate that I bought at IKEA for this suede project, but use your imagination and get creative! You can give a brushed suede look to picture frames, knick knacks, wood trays, almost anything! Can you believe that I forgot to take a great before pic? This is the only one I have...without my face! So sorry! #badhairday 😊

This short video tutorial will walk you through the easy steps and tricks to painting a brushed suede look!

Supplies Needed

DecoArt Suede paint

That's it! Maybe the shortest supplies list ever! Brushed suede is elegant and luxurious, and now it's easy to give your decorative items that same look and feel in just a few minutes!

first coat and second coat of paint

The second coat makes ALL the difference, just like when painting anything! So don't worry, you didn't ruin your project! Let the first coat dry before brushing on another coat! And be sure to use the easy painting technique I mentioned in the video above!

Styling the Table

I layered the painted suede chargers with my dinner dishes for a modern farmhouse look in my dining room! I'm already tweaking what I did here, and will be sharing the finished Spring table setting next week, so be sure to check back.
