Personalize a Dollar Store Shopping Bag

How to Customize a Dollar Store Bag

Remember going to summer camp and your mom had to put your name or your initials on all your stuff....even your underwear?!

Kinda weird, but it insured no one else was walking around with your underwear on!!

Monograms say, 'this is mine, it belongs to me!'

Add your monogram to a shopping bag

When I found this adorable polka dot shopping bag at the Dollar Store...I  decided to personalize it with my Cricut diecut machine and some pretty vinyl.

Easy peasy...

And with my Monogram on it, no one else better touch!!

What is the best thing you've ever monogrammed?

I scored another buffet/hutch combo on Craigslist for only $40!! It's a little smaller than the other hutches I've transformed, but I knew it would make the perfect Coffee Bar!

How to Use an Empty Frame

Repurpose an empty frame

Happy Friday friends! I hope you've had a great week.

I found this great looking frame at the thrift store recently. It was marked down to $1.99, probably because there was no glass, picture or backing. Just an empty frame.

I love finding frames like this, especially if the frame has a lot of texture like this one does.

But what do you do with empty frames? Here's what it looked like before I upcycled it..

Today is the day!

The day I've been dreading has arrived. Today, I will help my son move into his dorm room and then leave him there.....waaaaa! I'm really not sure I'm ready for this, but HE IS, so I've gotta suck it up.

I'm so proud of this young man that we've raised.

Vintage memories

Do you remember when Polaroid cameras were all the rage? I remember my dad taking pictures and the picture popping out of the camera a few seconds later! He would wave it around a little so it could dry before he would let us touch it. We were always so excited to see the instant image that was captured.

As neat as Polaroids were, the prints they produced were small. One size only.

I inherited a lot of pictures when my parents passed away. I wanted a way to preserve them and make them look as special as the memories feel..and to preserve them all together in a vintage album.

Blogiversary and Giveaway

Happy Blogiversary to me!

Today, my baby (aka DIY beautify) is ONE YEAR OLD!! Thinking back over my blogging journey this past year compelled me to come up with a little reality-check. Have fun reading this, and let me know if you can relate!

1. You know you're a blogger don't cringe at serving McDonald's to your family for dinner anymore- hey, at least you remembered to feed them today!

2. You know you're a blogger babble on about SEO and widgets, Alexa rank and Bitly, picmonkey and MailChimp...while your family munches on their McDonald's and stares at you with blank faces.

3. You know you're a blogger find yourself still in your pj's at 4:00 pm...with unbrushed teeth and bedhead!

4. You know you're a blogger jump guiltily when the doorbell rings and realize you cannot answer it because you're still in your pj's with bedhead and unbrushed teeth!

5. You know you're a blogger when...time is reduced to link parties and post schedules

6. You know you're a blogger open the fridge 5 days after you were going to buy groceries and realize you still haven't made it to the store

7. You know you're a blogger when...housework becomes a dirty word

8. You know you're a blogger when...your garage looks like it was bombed by a thrift store

You know you're a blogger nights consist of trips to Goodwill, and driving through neighborhoods looking for trash you can take home and transform!

10. You know you're a blogger regularly forget you actually have children...and a husband...and a life beyond blogging!

Sounds rather extreme but if you're a blogger, you'll agree that there is a bit of truth in every
one of those statements!

If you're not a probably have a clean house, a tidy garage and a home cooked meal
on the stove, lol...

...and you're thinking that bloggers are crazy!

I love blogging - inspiring and being inspired - and I cannot wait to see what this next year
holds for DIY beautify!

So I want to say..

Thank you to my followers for helping DIY beautify grow, for your sweet comments and for sticking with me. I am giving away a set of 5 rope balls from High Plains Knot Work. These handmade 2.5 in balls add texture and a natural element to a vase, bowl or displayed on your mantle. These are the actual ones the lucky winner will receive.

Clipboard for Teen Girl and a Cricut Giveaway!

*Disclosure: this is a sponsored post written on behalf of Cricut but all opinions and projects shown are my own. I only sponsor products I love and know you will enjoy too!*

DIY Clipboard

I absolutely love my Cricut Personal Cutter and use it several times a month. One of the ways I use it is to make customized gifts. A personal gift is so much better than something generic off the shelf, isn't it? With my Cricut, personalized gifts are really just a cut away!

My niece Katrina was visiting from Ontario, Canada and she was going to be turning 13 while at our home. I decided to make a cute, personalized TO DO Clipboard for her.

This was a bit of an experiment because I wanted to have cute paper, but make the clipboard like a dry erase board. My 'secret product''?

DIY beautify, and you'll receive some amazing products that I love too!
Today I'm excited to share my beach-y,
summer mantle with you.

dropcloth, driftwood, shells, chalkpaint, pallet

My kids may have returned to school this week, but it's still 90 degrees outside...and Fall is still a ways off. It's not too late to enjoy a summery mantle! Don't you just love the colors of summer?!

Coral, turquoise, pink...they bring to mind flirty sundresses, Florida sunsets, sandy beaches and
sweet smelling flowers!

Combined with the earthy textures of seashells, burlap and driftwood...
it really does evoke a sense of being at the beach.

I'm a big believer in bringing beauty to the ordinary, and my summer mantle is just one example of how I accomplish this in my home.
