I recently found myself at home alone...for an entire evening! If you're a mom, I know you're cheering with me! I decided to make the most of this rare occurrence and treat myself to some "ME" time! I indulged in the ultimate at-home pedi, followed by ice cream and a movie! All alone!!! Read on for my tips to getting this spa treat at home!

The goal = relaxation and pampering!

I'm on my feet a lot at work and as a result they are sore and my heels get really dry. I wish I could say that I rub my heels with an emollient every night before bed but...let's be serious...I don't have time for that (or energy by bedtime!).

So I gathered a few supplies for an at-home pedi treatment.

SUPPLIES NEEDED FOR AN AT-HOME PEDICURE

  • baby oil
  • your favorite bubble bath or bath gel
  • essential oils (I used a couple drops each of grapefruit, lavender, lemon and mint)
  • foot file
  • oil or cream to moisturize
  • foot care tools
  • your favorite nail polish
  • scented candle is a must!

5 STEPS TO THE ULTIMATE AT-HOME PEDICURE

STEP ONE:

Add a few inches of hot water to your bathtub. While it's filling, add the bath gel, baby oil (a good squirt) and your essential oils of choice. I chose grapefruit for its fruity smell and antiseptic properties, lavender because it's soothing, good for aches and is an antifungal, lemon for its cleansing properties and ability to kill germs and peppermint for that clean, tingly feeling.

These oils are from Spark Naturals, which makes certified pure pharmagrade oils. They're not diluted and there are no additives so you're getting just pure oil. The LLP (lavender, lemon and peppermint blend) is my go-to oil for treating seasonal allergies! I've been able to discontinue all my prescription nasal sprays by using just this oil! It has many other uses as well, such as a soothing spa bath for sore feet!

STEP TWO:

Remove old polish first. Lay a towel over the tub edge for padding, sit on the edge and get your feet into that warm, sudsy, yummy smelling water. Relax and let your feet soak. It's a great time to check social media sites! Soak for 10-15 minutes. The warm water, and all those goodies you poured into the tub will get to work on your feet, softening tough skin and relaxing them.

STEP THREE:

It's time to get busy. While your feet are in the water, use a foot scrubber like this one to gently slough dead skin off your heels and anywhere else you need it.

Dry feet well and then trim and file nails as needed.

STEP FOUR:

Time to pamper! Rub feet and legs with a moisturizing oil like this one, or a heavy cream. You want something thick and greasy that can really soak into dry skin.

STEP FIVE:

Paint nails a pretty shade. I like to start with a base coat of Sally Hansen Diamond Shine because it strengthens my nails and prevents polish from discoloring my nails. Once it dries, add color of choice.

That's it! Five steps to the ultimate at-home pedi!

Now, what to do while the nail polish is drying? I've got the perfect, indulgent solution!

Spending the evening by myself is a treat because I am the boss! I decided to splurge with some one of my favorite indulgences - Häagen-Dazs® (who needs dinner?) and a Redbox movie!

I was at Walmart earlier in the day, and got a craving for Häagen-Dazs, knowing it would be such a treat that evening (and I wouldn't have to share!).

I found numerous flavors to try! I was hesitating between the Coffee ice cream (my favorite!) and the Vanilla Milk Chocolate Almond ice cream bars. I couldn't decide, so I bought both! And I scored a free Redbox® movie!

When you purchase 2 Häagen-Dazs products at Walmart, you earn a free movie. You simply text "Redbox" to 35350, and submit your receipt. You get a code to use on any Redbox® movie!

As I seldom get the choose the movie...or pick the ice cream I want, this was a treat!

So while my toenails were drying, I lounged in my bed with lots of squishy pillows and watched a movie while having my dinner dessert! It truly felt decadent!

My ice cream was delicious! No one else in the family likes coffee flavor, so it's all mine!!

But I was thinking I might need to follow it up with an ice cream bar...after all, who knows when I'll get another evening all to myself again!

You need one! It's so relaxing and moms definitely need "me" time! So send your hubby and kids out for an evening, treat yourself to an ultimate at-home pedi, enjoy an indulgent treat and get your free movie! You'll be so glad you took this time for you!
