I'm so happy to welcome you into our home today for a fall tour. If you follow me on this blog or Instagram, you've seen some sneak peeks and you're already well aware that fall is my very favorite time of the year! #notverysubtle 😉

I want to say a quick thank you to Angelina at Peonies and Orange Blossoms for organizing this fall blog hop! With nearly 30 homes to tour over the next 5 days, there is plenty of inspiration to be found! You'll find all the links at the end of this post so you can check them all out!

Welcome to our little Texas farmhouse!

our home

We moved into this home last October...so I really consider this our first official fall in this home!

fall porch

Let's head inside!

For me, fall decorating means layering...think loads of texture and neutral items with a few pops of color.

fall entry

I love that most of these pieces can stay out all year long! Changing out the pillows and bringing down all my pumpkins from the attic warms up my home for the season.

fall sitting room

The sitting room is where I love to read and lounge. It's away from the television and noise so it's the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee and a good book!

farmhouse fall

It's probably the 'girliest' room in our home! I've added a pretty chandelier which makes it extra-cozy after dark! I have added my painted pumpkin pillows to the sofa for a soft fall touch.

This long hallway extends from the front door to the back rooms of our home. It's where I've put our recently painted blanket chest which Mr DIY helped me to repurpose as a filing system.

fall hall

I painted the pumpkin canvas a couple years ago, as well as made the burlap printed pillow.

When I decorate for fall, I just enhance what I already have by tucking in pumpkins everywhere! I add texture in the form of cotton bolls, grapevine, lambs ears and other decor items that are very neutral. This allows me to get the most bang for my decorating buck because these decorative items look good with every season!

Like this boxwood wreath that hangs in my hallway. Decorating it for fall was so easy. I just tucked a couple white sweater pumpkins into the wreath for a cozy look. I'll be sharing the tutorial for these easy pumpkins soon!

My dining room is where I go all out for fall, decorating pretty much every surface!

I started with some basic elements that I use every day and then just added to it!

dining room farmhouse style

I like a layered, informal look. I set the table with a striped table runner, candles, numbered dishes and my iron stone plates that I've collected from thrift stores over the years...and some Rae Dunn!

fall table

I like to keep it neutral but you will see some soft tones of blue, green and orange if you look closely!

fall dining room

The centerpiece is a large wooden bowl that I filled with antiqued dollar store pumpkins, whitewashed pumpkins and magnolia leaves. I still have the dried magnolia leaves from when I made my fresh magnolia wreath and the soft velvety brown is perfect for fall!

farmhouse fall centerpiece

The only thing I purchased for the centerpiece were the little rustic brown pumpkins! I elevated the mercury glass votives by turning over some milk glass dessert dishes and taping the votives to the top so they don't topple over. The milk glass is nestled in there good, you hardly notice them.

Elevating the votives makes it safer to light the candles when we're enjoying family meals.

Mr DIY and I found two antique doors at the Nashville Flea Market a couple years ago. We used one in our farmhouse laundry room in Tennessee, and brought the other one when we moved to Texas. It's just propped up in the corner of our dining room. I love the chippy texture it adds.

vintage door

I hung a willow basket on the door and filled it with dried wheat and some faux lavender stems. It's a simple touch that adds some beautiful fall texture.

basket of wheat

My black hutch was a Craigslist score many years ago, and was the first piece of furniture I ever painted with chalk paint! I've found a lot of vintage white iron stone at Goodwill and thrift stores over the years and I love the graphic white and black together!

black hutch white dishes

Adding fall to the hutch was as simple as tucking in some repeating elements...small pumpkins, faux greenery, acorns. The muted colors enhance my vintage dishes.

This is where we gather for meals together. The table and chairs were a thrift store find, and I refinished the dining set several years ago and added the chevron fabric to the seats. There are three additional leaves to extend the table and we've had a lot of fun with family and friends around this table!

The huge chalkboard started off life as a black, gold and red frame I spotted at a yard sale. I painted the frame and Mr DIY and I cut a piece of MDF to size and painted it with chalkboard paint. I love changing out the sentiments and the chalkboard comes clean with a damp cloth!

The topiary was an inexpensive DIY project that you can find here. For fall I just tucked it into an olive bucket that I found on sale.

shabby farmhouse dining room

It's a cozy table, and I could spend all day here...but let's move on to the kitchen!

rustic pumpkins

We were fortunate to have very little work to do in the entire house when we moved in last October. The kitchen had been updated, I just did a little painting...well okay, a lot of painting!

white kitchen

It's another black and white space which lets me play around with decor.

fall kitchen

I had a girls craft night recently and showed some friends how to make a burlap wreath.

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll know that I am all heart-eyes for pumpkin spice! I was looking for it in the stores mid-summer 😃

My Rae Dunn YASS mug expresses exactly how I felt when I finally found pumpkin spice coffee creamer! Coffee and a little brownie...the perfect mid-day snack!

pumpkin spice

Pumpkin spice in my coffee is my favorite way to start the day...especially when served in a Rae Dunn mug!

fall coffee bar

My farmhouse coffee station is the first place I head when I wake up in the morning!

Our living room is the most used room in our home. We had the paneled walls and dark bookcase painted this past spring and it's made such a difference. You can see the dramatic before pics here. The room backs on to our sun room, and both rooms share a large double-sided fireplace.

fall mantle

I kept the fireplace mantle simple with a large sign, candles and mini pumpkins.

white bookcases for fall

The bookcase was kept simple as well because it's already so busy and colorful! For tips on how to choose the perfect paint for bookcases, click here. I also shared my favorite tips for styling bookcases especially large ones like I have.

sweater pumpkins

Every fall I love bringing out these pumpkin patch pictures of my kids from when they were small! So many memories!!

fall bookshelf

My daughter has never noticed these little hand-stitched pumpkins before. But last year she took a sewing class and learned some embroidery. When I pulled them out this year she noticed and commented on them right away!
neutral fall decor

Fall in this room means a cozy place to sit, comfy pillows, throws and more natural texture. The large faux clock started off life as something very different! You can find that tutorial here...it's an IKEA hack that I'm quite proud of!

I scored the tall narrow baking racks at an outdoor market early in the year. They reminded me of shutters and the price was too good to pass up.

farmhouse fall decor

I don't have pictures of our sun room to share because it's currently full of boxes! However, the back of the fireplace was hung with an antique window and decorated for fall

brick fireplace fall decor

This double-sided fireplace means I have two mantles to decorate!!! I'll be working on the sun room this next month. I've got a fun wall treatment that I'll be sharing soon! There's also the half-bath that's getting a makeover, and the room that will be my office...so I hope you stay tuned!

It was so much fun decorating for fall this year! Last year we moved to Texas and were living at the beach while we house-hunted. I got creative while we were there and found a few creative ways to bring fall to the beach. This beach glass pumpkin was one of my projects.

fall scents

Thank you so much for walking through our fall home! I would love to invite you in for a cup of coffee (with pumpkin spice!) and a slice of warm pumpkin bread, but there are more fall homes for you to check out on this blog hop!
