Inspiration

With all this social isolation and sheltering in place, you'd think I'd be cranking out the crafts and tearing up rooms in my home. But no. I've been taking a little breather and enjoying getting extra rest. I was recently diagnosed with CIRS (chronic inflammatory response syndrome), otherwise known as Mold Illness, and one of the main symptoms is chronic fatique.

I find that my fatigues ebbs and flows and if I'm busy one day, I need the next day to recover. So while I've been resting on the sofa, I've been enjoying scrolling through inspiration on my phone. When I saw this pretty wreath centerpiece that Antique Farmhouse recently posted, I realized that I had everything in my home already to make a similar version! They were advertising the distressed wood pillar candle holders shown here, but my eye was taken with the tabletop wreath!

I already had similar candle holders, I made chippy candle holders last year from spindles I cut off an old chair!

This didn't seem like too taxing of a project. I knew I could bring some items I already had in my home together to make this wreath centerpiece quickly and easily!

Here's what I was working with

supplies

You may or may not have what you need for this project at home (if you're not a decor hoarder like me!) so I'm including some Amazon affiliate links below to similar items that I used. If you don't want to purchase greenery, maybe use moss, floral picks, or something else that you already have on hand like decorated Easter eggs! Get creative buddy 😉

Please note that I chose not to use hot glue to attach my greenery because of the long wired branches. You can certainly use hot glue if you wish!

Supplies

Assembling the wreath

I started by unwinding the fake paper garland I had around my grapevine wreath. Since my faux greenery has really long stems, I wrapped the wire stems around the wreath form (see the first picture below), and overlapped the greenery as I made my way around the wreath base. I used 5 stems.

I cut apart a small boxwood bush I had and inserted pieces into the wreath wherever there were holes or bare spots. This filled the tabletop wreath in perfectly!

Last, I tucked in some eucalyptus stems cut down to size. No hot glue was used, the grapevine wreath branches hold everything in place just perfectly!

The fun part of any project is styling it in your space! We recently moved some furniture around in our sun room, and the round glass table needed a little something pretty.

I added a couple of my DIY spindle candlesticks to the center of the wreath. I think it looks just like the inspiration picture, don't you? Here are some similar distressed candle holders if you're in the market for some.

I also tried styling the wreath with a glass hurricane with metal accents and I think I like this look best for my space! The low profile suits this room better.

I tucked the spindle candlesticks on my simple cottage style spring mantle. What do you think? Do you prefer the hurricane or the candlesticks in the center of this tabletop wreath?
