You know what May means right?

Summer's just around the corner! I love to decorate my home with patriotic touches during the summer months and some of my favorite DIYs ever are ones I've made for one of the patriotic holidays we celebrate here in America.

I'm joining today with some of my blogging buddies to share our patriotic ideas with you! We've got wreaths and flags and vintage Americana as well as decor for your home and porch. I know you'll love seeing what everyone shared. Thanks to Rachel at The Ponds Farmhouse for organizing this tour of patriotic DIYs and home decor ideas!

To start us off, I'm sharing one of my favorite patriotic DIYs, this sweet ruffly flag made from fabric scraps.

DIY Fabric Scrap Flag

Cindy at DIY Beautify

While I love to decorate with all the red, white and blue, sometimes it's fun to venture outside of the box! With this DIY flag, I felt like going a little more neutral. This fabric scrap flag that I made is a nod to the good 'ole US of A, but a little more understated.

I used one of my favorite, inexpensive fabrics as a base for this DIY flag... canvas drop cloth! Drop cloth is a thrifty alternative and the perfect color for a neutral loving home. Canvas drop cloth also washes up beautifully and has a nubby linen-like feel that works in pretty much any design!

I combined the fabric scrap flag with a blue floral quilt draped over the back of the sofa, blue ticking stripe pillows (see similar here), red gingham pillows, and my blue painted trunk. The antique arched window with its chippy paint is the perfect backdrop to hang my patriotic wall hanging made with ribbon and lace. It's a little vintage shabby Americana vibe in this corner of my home.

I crafted this flag with drop cloth scraps, along with some denim chambray and lace scraps. It has a shabby chic feel that I love, and aren't the buttons cute as stars?

DIY Ticking Patriotic Napkins with Cutlery Pocket

Rachel is a girl after my DIY-loving heart! When she can't find something, she makes it! Unable to find the perfect napkins for her 4th of July tablescape, she made them from ticking fabric and scraps of drop cloth! If you've been following me for a hot minute, you'll know that drop cloth is one of my favorite fabrics to use for thrifty farmhouse DIYs!

Rachel's tutorial is so easy to follow. You can find the full tutorial for her patriotic napkins here.

How to Make a Patriotic Flag Shutter

My friend Jennifer is a true creative and how I wished we lived closer so we could craft together! She is always inspiring me with her ideas, like painting a flag onto an old shutter! I love the coastal twist she added, so perfect for anyone who lives near the beach!

Her DIYs are always well photographed and easy to follow! You can check out Jennifer's shutter flag here.

Fourth of July Galvanized Farmhouse Flag Wreath

Jen's DIYs are always playful and colorful. This creative take on a patriotic wreath is just so darn cute! I love the galvanized wreath form that she used, and it's just stuffed full with patriotic goodness.

Front Porch Ideas for the Fourth of July

Janine's porch is so cute and she shares all the details to achieving this look. It's a true celebration of America with garlands and large paper rosettes. I love how she used a blue gingham quilt (see similar here) on her outdoor chairs, and tucked flags into a basket.

How to Decorate a Patriotic Table with Baseballs

I love how Shelley repurposed a bucket of old baseballs to decorate her table with an All-American feel! I'm a huge fan of using items you already have on hand to keep decorating costs down. She has a great tip for making new baseballs look old that I want to try!

Shelley's table is sophisticated yet playful, perfect for all ages! To get her tips for decorating with old baseballs, click here.

  1. Love all the ruffles and buttons on your pillow, Cindy! They were so pretty. I love the way you mixed it with the denim too. I just sent the indoor/outdoor flag to one of my friends. It would look so good on her new porch. Hope your day is off to a great start! Big hugs, CoCo
