Good morning and happy Wednesday to you! I have another easy dollar store DIY for you this morning! I am loving how this buffalo check shelf sign turned out! Best of all, it cost only $3 to make!

I've been posting farmhouse-friendly neutral Valentine's Day projects all month long! You can catch up with all the projects here.

If you've been following me for awhile, you've no doubt seen buffalo check in my home! I love this classic pattern, and have incorporated it into nearly every room in my home, in small ways. There's my DIY buffalo check covered ottoman, the buffalo check lamps you've seen in my sunroom, the buffalo check curtains that I moved from my office to my kitchen at Christmas (you'll be seeing more of this room soon!) and the list goes on! I even made a buffalo check Valentines day tea towel!

Buffalo check adds modern farmhouse charm, and in my neutral home it is the perfect pattern!

Watch this video to see how I incorporated buffalo check into this sweet dollar store sign. The supplies list is below the video.

Supplies to Make a Buffalo Check LOVE Sign

Please note that while all these products are from Dollar Tree, I was unable to find links to them. I'm including links to similar items in case you need an alternative.
*Note: you an also use white acrylic paint, but you may need more coats

Tips for Success

  • make sure you trace your sign (or letters) backwards onto the backside of your fabric! That way your ink marks won't show!
  • carefully cut fabric out along traced lines
  • paint the sides and insides of letters and let dry thoroughly before applying fabric
  • if your fabric is fraying, glue down to word surface; once dry, it's easy to trim any frayed edges. If it's fraying really badly, you can use fray check on it to seal the edges and stop the fray.

This little buffalo check sign turned out so cute, and I can't decide where to display it!

By using a neutral fabric, this DIY sign isn't limited to only using during Valentines! I'm able to leave it out all year long! I'm sure it will become a piece that gets moved from room to room!

  2. I did and get the LOVE sign and a little bottle of spray adhesive. I own plenty of Mod Podge and scrap fabric! I’ll have to go up and down the craft aisle from now on! Thanks!
