What is Pinterest Challenge?

It's a virtual get together of some friends who love to blog and share home inspiration! Once a month, we each put our own spin on a Pinterest visual and it's always fun to see the different 'takes'. It's also a great way for you to see that you don't need the exact same things to create something beautiful for your own home! You can see our past Pinterest Challenges here.

If you hopped over here from Cindy's charming Easter chair vignette, I'm so glad you're here! I'm Cindy too and I love showing you how to create budget-friendly ways to beautify your home. I share crafts, DIYs and favorite recipes. If you're not getting my weekly newsletter, I'd love to have you sign up here.

Inspiration Image

The beautiful inspiration image for this challenge is from Jamie at Anderson and Grant. I adore every single thing about her simple Spring vignette and if you read her post, she shares some really great tips for decorating simple vignettes that I know you'll find helpful.

Rather than sharing my own tips for creating vignettes, I thought I'd share some visual changes I made to a Spring vignette in my home to give you ideas.

5 Ways to Style a Simple Spring Vignette

After reading Jamie's post, and enjoying the visual delights of her pretty vignette, these are the elements I borrowed to create my own Spring vignette.

  • texture and contrasts
  • lacey white throw
  • bunny
  • basket
  • tulips

I love contrasts in home decor, it just makes for more interesting displays. With that said, I didn't have a dark chair to use. What I did have was an old, chippy white chair I saved from the trash in the fall. It has a woven seat and wonderful rustic texture!

I cleaned the chair well and brought it inside. I paired it with a gauzy, light ruffled curtain that I found at Target years ago on clearance. I am using a curtain as a throw, yes I am! I love the contrast of the rustic chair with the feminine, airy 'throw' (from now on when I say throw, you know I'm talking about a curtain haha).

I displayed my vignette in front of my white painted cottage dresser. The tobacco baskets and the antique dough box add additional texture and contrast.

I threw the ruffled throw over the chair, and because the seat was wobbly, I added a woven basket to give my vignette a solid, flat surface.

I borrowed the tall white rabbit from my Spring kitchen coffee bar. This bunny is a new purchase, but it was a brownish gray color that I didn't like. A little white chalk paint made it fit my style better. The blue velvet bow adds a bit of elegance. A trio of my favorite faux tulips completes the look.

Spring Vignette No. 2

To change things up but still keep this vignette simple, I borrowed the basket of tulips from the mirror in my entry and hung it over the chair rung. I love this explosion of tulips and daffodils, all faux but so real looking!

I swapped out the bunnies for this gold one, and removed one of the tulips laying on the chair.

Spring vignette No. 3

My third simple vignette went in a different direction. I left the throw on the chair but added the Spring lantern vignette from a past Pinterest Challenge post. You can see how I put it together here. I moved the whole thing to the chair. Simple, right?

My gold bunnies were purchased from Hobby Lobby last year, but they were blue! A little gold spray paint made them fit my style.

Another easy version was to add an ironstone pitcher filled with those same faux tulips. I borrowed the pitcher of tulips from my Spring bedroom. You can see a peek of the thick wood charger I used as a base. I really like this look, and it was simple!

My No. 1 tip when decorating your home is to use the same colors throughout. That way, it's simple to just grab something from one room and it seamlessly works in another room!

Spring vignette No. 5

My final version of a simple Spring vignette is the simplest of them all! I kept the throw on the rustic chair and added a pink buffalo check pillow. I could have added the DIY bunny pillow that I recently made but I couldn't find it LOL!

I hope these simple ideas have shown you that vignettes need not be difficult! I would love to know which of these vignettes is your favorite! Leave me a comment below.

  14. My first thought was I wonder where she got the throw from, so I guess using a curtain instead worked really well. I love how airy and feminine it is. So pretty.
