If you've been a follower for awhile, you already know that thrifty, dirt-cheap and budget-friendly are some of my favorite words!!

Today's project fits into each of these categories! I love shopping end-of-season clearance items! Not only for great clothing staples, but especially when it comes to home decor!

Sometime in November I spotted this fall-themed storage caddy at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $4 (regular price was in the $20-25 range).

I love its farmhouse features...adorable rope handles, metal accents and 6 storage cubbies. You already know that I love repurposing cubbies if you've read my post about the craft cubby I repurposed to display my Rae Dunn mugs and ironstone pitchers.

I knew that this would be a great piece for daily use - storing the remotes, coasters and all those little items that tend to either get lost or always be a mess on the coffee table.

I considered sanding off the harvest blessings stencil, but in the end decided that I would resort to my fallback...painting. I wanted to preserve the original metal trim, and I wanted to leave the inside natural wood.

It literally took about 5 minutes, barely any paint, and was dry 20 minutes later! I love instant gratification! (I used Everlasting, white chalk paint by Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint and my favorite Purdy brush)

And now?

Now it fits right in with the farmhouse decor in my living room and it has a fabulous new function!

I didn't paint the sides solid white, but left a little of the natural wood to show through...fits better with the rustic nature of it.
