Summer Mantle Inspired by the Beach
Decorating a simple summer mantle with beachy blues and collected finds
Updated 9-2025
Good morning sweet friend! I hope your summer has been filled with lots of sun
and sand, and new memories! Before I share my summer mantle with you, I want
to welcome you to the Summer Festival Blog Hop, hosted by Kendra of
Joy in Our Home. 24 of my
blogging friends and I have teemed up to share lots of decor and yummy
inspiration each day of this week!
Affiliate links may be included for your convenience;
my full disclosure policy can be found here. If you click through and make a purchase I'll receive a small

It's Friday, which means it's the last day of the hop! You can catch up with all of the beautiful (and tasty) posts,
including summer vignettes, front porches, recipes, dining/tablescapes and
mantles.
I'll provide links at the end of this post to all the inspiration that you
may have missed.
Today I want to share my summer mantle with you. I used to go all-out decorating my mantle for pretty much every occasion! Lately I find I prefer to keep the same basic look but just make a few changes. Part of my reasoning has to do with my dislike of climbing up into the hot, muggy attic...I'd much rather just shop my home for decor!

Our fireplace is very dramatic, and provides a great background for a colorful
mantle! The large double fireplace opens up into our
sunroom, where the brick climbs all the way to the vaulted ceiling back there...it's
a pretty dramatic space too! A few months ago I painted the living-room side
of the fireplace with
this white chalk paint.
It started as a cleaning experiment...and went from there 😀 You can read a
full tutorial outlining the simple process
here.
I get a lot of questions asking if it's the German Schmear technique. It's not, it's MUCH easier and much less messy...and definitely cheaper!

Painting the fireplace went a long ways towards brightening up our living
room, which tends to be on the dark side (that huge fireplace blocks a lot of
light!). The rest of the room had already undergone some changes when we
painted the dark faux oak paneling and built-ins, replaced the carpet with farmhouse
wood floors...and one thing usually leads to another...I've already mentioned the
sunroom got a makeover as well! My favorite feature in our sunroom are the
reclaimed wood walls on each end. You can read about how easy it was to
install them
here.
This is the room where the family hangs the most...so when it came to
decorating the mantle for summer, I chose to add some collectibles that bring
back lots of good family memories of times spent at the beach.
We lived on the Gulf Coast of Florida for over 7 years, and while there,
collected lots and lots and lots of seashells and shark's teeth. I added some
of our favorite shells to the mantle, both in a footed bowl, and a few by
themselves.
Of course you cannot miss the jars full of beach glass. Those have been
collected in the time that we've lived on the Texas Gulf Coast! Both my
daughter and Mr DIY have helped me hunt for beach glass nearly every time we
go to the beach (which is only 20 minutes from our home!). I always come home
from the beach with a few more pieces...which get added to these jars.
The colors of the beach glass are perfect for this beach-y mantle! If you
don't live near a beach, you can purchase beach glass
here.
"Today is a Good Day for a Good Day" is definitely true all summer long! I
made the small sign a few days ago using Chalk Couture products and it took me
about 10 minutes, start to finish! You can read the tutorial
here.
The antique mason jars (found on ebay years ago) make their rounds in nearly every room in my home...whenever I need a touch of aqua! The shutter was a curbside find that I painted white. Shutters are much easier to paint using a spray, and I like this flat white. The magnolia wreath is a farmhouse classic. Mine is from Antique Farmhouse, but they are widely available.
Shopping my home to create a collected look is very important to me! I have several collections that I love and displaying them in different rooms in different ways is a challenge that I enjoy.
This beach-y mantle makes me want to throw on my swimsuit and head to the
beach!
Do you have any collections that you can use to create a summer mantle? Maybe
it's driftwood, or sand or travel books...give it some thought!
Next up on the tour is Kristin from
White Arrows Home. Kristin lives
in a log cabin on a lake in Wisconsin...how peaceful does that sound? I know
you'll be inspired by her summer mantle!
And as promised, here is the full line-up of summer tours. I hope you'll enjoy looking through each one!
